The Queen is dead (My poem #18)

Should I be mourning?
Depends, I’m conflicted
Depends on the flag I’m waving

As an Indian – definitely not
For hands drenched in blood
my ancestors
For brutality of the Raj
She bears the cross of her progenitors

As a Canadian, I should
She was the titular head
Her face adorned our money
To money, we must salute!

As an American, hell not!
But wait, not so fast
It depends
Not as a sovereign, but
as British royalty
For enriching our screens

She lived a full life,
A privileged life
A life of fairy tales
May her soul rest in peace.
