Single Flower (My Poem #7)
Feels lonely
As it looks around
Longs for company
No siblings to be found
Why me? he wonders
Envies the neighbors
They are not alone
Why me? he belabors
I want to belong,
be part of a throng,
make chorus
not a solo song
Then notices a visitor
Soon a steady stream
two, three, but not a swarm
Envies the neighbor
Tries to rationalize
No competition,
Exclusive attention
Small price to pay
I can’t have it all
Can I? Should I?
Still, I want it all
Eternal struggle.
