Mother
A manifestation of God
On Earth
Warmth of wintry sun
On Earth

Omnidevi
Her body – fusion of all Hindu deities
No time for frivolity
Has to deal with realities.

Omnijanani
Progenitor of New life
Hard labor
Yet no empathy,
No favor.

Omnivatsalya
Unconditional love for her offsprings
Be they noble or murderers
Her devotion comes without any strings.

Omniscient
Senses child’s well-being
Sixth sense
Long before Wi-Fi became a thing.

Omnipresent
Here, there, and everywhere
Home, school & after school
Often on a wing and a prayer.

Omnicompetent
Carris the load,
Both inside and out
Doesn’t complain
Seldom gets shout out

Omnidextrous
Many balls in the air as such
Doctor, magician, teacher …
A kiss, a hug, a gentle touch.

Omnilingual
Versed in multiple “languages”
Especially, nonverbal
Knows everyone’s favorite “passages”.

Omniprahasita
Always smiling
Appearance of happiness
Under the veil, turbulence.

Omnipathic
Keeps everyone happy
Keeps cool under duress
Even when feeling crappy.

My lament

I miss my mother,
More now than ever.
From the pain of my settling in US,
she would never recover
I too started to feel the pain
as I got older.

I will have to carry this burden
For the rest of my life
Sadly, there is no UNDO button!

Bless mother’s memories.
To all the moms, may the force be with you!
Super Woman, in real life, not in cartoons!
