If you voted, you have a right to complain.
If not let me ask you why did you abstain?

Didn’t you realize?
When you decided to sit out that
Elections are more than just an exercise

Elections have consequences
Look at the supreme Court’s composition
Packed with six right wing zealots
Ready to reverse years of moderation

Elections have consequences
Roe vs Wade – gone
Affirmative action in education – gone
LGBTQIA right to not be discriminated in public  – gone

Those who are bemoaning these decisions
Simple question – did you sit out the race?
If you did. You have no one to blame
But yourself
You cut your nose to spite your face

If you were sending out a message
It did not work in your favor
Your effort boomeranged
You didn’t get much time to savor

Elections have consequences
Not just you but your children too
Will have to contend with these decisions
And for all that the blame squarely rests on you.

I am sorry to say
The cycle of apathy will continue
Since You let your  emotions get the better of you!
Again and again.

Alas. Elections have consequences!
When if ever we will pay heed to this adage.
