Old age – a curse?

With every year, a heavier sigh
Time’s relentless march, cannot deny
Burdens of age, too real to ignore
Youth’s vibrant echo, alas no more!

The curse of years, a silent thief
Stealing moments, joy, and belief
Loneliness whispers, a constant guest
In the quiet heart, finds its nest.

Dreams of past, a fading light
Strength wanes, giving up the fight
Yet in this dusk, wisdom’s stage
Speaks the truth of the curse of age.

One by one all senses atrophy
Hard to hear; hard to see
Taste and smell, ultimately flee
Physical and mental faculties disagree.

Decline is inevitable, need to manage it
Time with friends and family provides relief
Decline need not rob one of joy and fun
Though, it will be mixed with sorrow and grief.

Positive attitude, a potent elixir
Help you through tough stretches
Negativity corrodes body and soul
Robs one of life ‘s riches.

When the day comes
You will embark on a new journey
Your soul will be liberated
Unshackled from the gurney.

Until then, count all your blessings
Make peace with old age
Enjoy every moment as if it is the last
Accept old age with all its umbrage.

No-one can stop the march of time! No-on!!
