I call it a Proem (Prose and Poem mixed in).

You. Yes I am talking to you
You, blinded by arrogance
Messing with me? you fool!
Drowning in cognitive dissonance

Can’t you see the error of your ways?
Signals all around, even a blind can see!
Don’t even think about it; try as you may
can never get the better of me!

Better get to amending your ways
Time is running out faster and faster
Point of no return fast approaching
Get off the fossil fuel drug, avoid disaster

Signals all around:
– Glaciers are melting
– Ice shelves are splintering
– Sea level is rising
– Forests are burning
– Temperatures are soaring

Getting louder and louder:

– Torrential rain (atmospheric river)
– Flooded terrain
– Persistent drought
– Fierce wind storms
– Menacing hurricanes
– Stifling heat waves (heat dome)
– Killer snow storms (polar vortex)

I hope you get the picture
Ready for action? or
still sitting on the fence,
unwilling to face the truth?

You say you love your children
If you do, you haven’t shown me
Talk is cheap, must walk the talk
Listen to their silent plea!
