This July 4th unlike any other in history.
Celebration as a republic, not a kingdom.
Sadly, the reactionary Supreme Court.
Turned the clock back, in all its wisdom!

The President now has unlimited power.
We took pride in “nobody is above the law”.
Now POTUS is immune from prosecution.
Constitution has been hacked with a chainsaw.

Framers of the Constitution.
Must be turning in their graves.
People who gave their lives in duty.
Questioning sacrifice as foolish braves.

Sadly, we may soon have a President.
With no trepidation to use absolute power.
His friends on the Supreme Court bench.
Glad to see him on the throne, tall as a tower.

Those who still care for rule of law.
Must ensure Trump doesn’t get elected.
The only way to do that is to vote.
Not sit out, or else he won’t be defeated.

One friendly warning to Biden.
Please don’t test the latest ruling.
Equal protection is just rhetoric.
SCOTUS is not kind in its dealing.

God save our country.
A country we love dearly.
We chose it as our adopted home.
Now our faith is being tested severely.

“We shall overcome
Oh, deep in my heart
I do believe
We’ll overcome someday.
Yes, we will.”

The image of the Statue of Liberty has been created by Chat GPT.  The image of the US Constitution with bullet holes has been created by me.  Both Google Gemini and OpenAI ChatGPT refused to create such an image.  I totally understand the reason.  I was surprised that I got them to create an image of the Statue of Libert with tears!  Take what you can get.
